Teenager Activity Monitoring
How many times have we as parents been asked by our children if they can go
out with friends? Probably, too many times to remember, Right? Did you ever
wonder if they really went where they were supposed to? Probably, because most
parents do. Then you might do a little checking to see if they went there and
even go so far as to call. You speak to your child and all is well, right? No,
not always! Children become aware of your tactics over time and plan around
them. The teen may know that you'll call and as soon as you have, they're off
like a shot doing heaven knows what. Yes, it is important for a child to know
you trust them, but shouldn't you know truthfully whether you can or not?
Unfortunately, two of the most common replies officers receive from parents
when confronted with their arrested (or worse) child is, "...I didn't know..."
or, "...I was lied to...". Wouldn't you like to keep the police out of it?
Wouldn't you like to be the one doing the confronting and have the evidence to
back it up? Sometimes it's not only your child you would need to confront.
What about your teens friend's parents? What if it turns out the friend's
parents are involved? Having that evidence sounds even better now, doesn't it?
In the rare event of a severe problem child similar to what some may have seen
on some of the daytime talk shows, this evidence can even serve to protect you
from litigation brought on by your child's actions. That's right! In some
cases, parents have been arrested for the actions of the child especially in
the cases of Truancy (skipping school). Working together and with your child's
school, we may be able to help you prevent some serious problems for yourself and help preserve your
child's future.
