Theft Investigations
People usually know what a theft investigation is about and do not require an
explanation. But, did you think about how many types of theft there are? Theft
can generally be broken down into three types: material & monetary (money)
theft; time theft and information or intellectual theft.
Material and monetary theft are self-explanatory so I won't go any further
with that type. First lets think about the latter; intellectual theft or
information theft. This usually occurs when someone steals an idea you had
first or copies (plagerises) an original work of some sort that you created.
However this can also include office documents, forms and policies or even
reputation.
When you think of a time thief, you might think of some person who travels in
time to steal or something similar. Lets put that notion to rest right here. A
time thief really is person or people that will charge for time worked when
they did nothing during that time. One common way to do this is to have
someone clock in for you at work but you may actually be a half-hour or more
late. Another way is to have a person clock out for you at the normal time
when you actually leave an hour early or have someone on the next shift clock
you out much later, but you you actually left at your shifts end. There are
